How do I start collecting serials?
Collecting serials is a relatively easy task, once you know where to find them. The easiest place to start is to visit a local video store and see if they carry any. As the films are fairly old, and not as popular as classics like "Casablanca" or "War of the Worlds" it would be best to have a few titles handy when you go to ask about, such as "Flash Gordon" or "Adventures of Captain Marvel". You might want to try looking up titles under actor's names, like Larry "Buster" Crabbe or Tom Tyler. Another method is to go to film services like Amazon, where they might carry titles. We list many of Amazon's titles here in our Serial Experience Store. A good web site to go to get started collecting is the Serial Squadron at www.serialsquadron.com, they have a list of serials that they sell and trade. When all else fails, there are always specialty magazines such as "Big Reel", published through Antique Trader, that carry ads of dealers who specialize in serials. Happy hunting.
